Job Description

We continue to go from strength to strength and are now in a position to recruit a highly motivated and dedicated Accountant to join the Finance team based in our Head Office in Ipswich. Reporting directly to the Finance Director, the successful candidate will be required to provide support through the timely production of Management Accounts and to provide Company reporting for external trade and statutory requirements.

Duties to include:

  • Responsible for line management of team; dealing proactively and robustly with all HR processes to include Recruitment and Selection, Appraisal, Performance Management, Leave Management.
  • Act as a role model for staff; coaching them to develop and achieve full potential.
  • Responsibility for the accurate and timely completion and distribution of the Company Management and Statutory Accounts
  • Complete projects as directed by the Business.
  • Supervise and guide the Systems Accountant with project work.
  • Assist the Financial Director in ensuring the Audit runs smoothly
  • Regularly review accounts throughout the year to ensure accounting standards are met.
  • Preparing the information in readiness for Audit inspection
  • Assist with audit queries
  • Seek continuous improvement throughout the department, make any relevant recommendations to the Financial Director and then look to implement these.
  • Complete GBP and multi-currency cash flows
  • Analyse variances and future movements in cash
  • For Multi-currency, recommend purchase allowance to ensure payments can still be made on time.
  • Review Month End reconciliations for completeness
  • Ensure information held on reconciliations is relevant and accurate
  • Provide feedback to team on queries, improvements and possible threats.
  • Ensure reconciliations are presented to management periodically
  • Assist Finance Director with budget preparation
  • Draft budget for balance sheet and provide phasing down to a monthly level.
  • Draft budget for cash flow and provide phasing down to a monthly level.
  • Ensure ABTA and CAA returns are completed on time
  • Ensure information presented to ABTA is relevant and accurate and in accordance with regulations and bond limits
  • Provide management with variance analysis.
  • Assist with queries raised by ABTA, CAA or Management
  • Complete quarterly VAT returns for and submit to FOL
  • Complete TOMS (Tour Operator Margin Scheme) VAT calculation report
  • Ensure VAT is calculated correctly throughout the business.

The role will be working 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday (9:00 – 17:30).

As the successful candidate, you will be qualified to AAT standard as a minimum and have proven experience within a similar position. You will be a confident and effective communicator across all levels and be able to lead and motivate a team.
